Overview

briefd (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is an executive relationship intelligence tool operated by Rajat Agarwal. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

By using briefd at getbriefed.in, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of data when you use briefd:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and profile photo from Google OAuth.
  • Google data (read-only): We access your Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive with read-only scopes. We never store raw email content — only AI-generated summaries of relevant threads.
  • Meeting context: Contact names, email addresses, company names, and meeting purposes that you enter into briefing forms.
  • WhatsApp exports: If you upload a WhatsApp .txt export, we parse it and store only an AI-generated summary. The raw file is discarded immediately after parsing.
  • Usage data: Basic analytics such as pages visited and briefings generated, used to improve the product.

How We Use Your Data

  • To generate pre-meeting briefing documents tailored to your relationships.
  • To pull email, calendar, and document history for contacts you are about to meet.
  • To search the web for recent news about contacts and their companies.
  • To save your briefing history so you can review past documents.
  • To improve briefd — we may analyse aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.

Data We Do NOT Store

We are explicit about what we do not store:

  • Raw email content — we never save the body of your emails to our database.
  • Raw calendar event descriptions in full — we extract summary metadata only.
  • Raw WhatsApp files — the .txt upload is parsed in memory and immediately discarded.
  • Passwords — we use Google OAuth exclusively; we never handle your passwords.

Google OAuth and API Data

briefd requests the following Google API scopes: gmail.readonly, calendar.readonly, and drive.readonly. These are read-only — we cannot send emails, create events, or modify any files on your behalf.

Your Google OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored encrypted in our database. They are used solely to fetch data on your behalf when you generate a briefing. You can revoke access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

briefd's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

AI Processing

Briefings are generated using the Anthropic Claude API. We send structured context — contact name, summarised email topics, meeting history, and web search results — to Claude. We do not send raw email bodies or personally sensitive information beyond what you explicitly enter.

Anthropic's data handling is governed by their own Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

  • Briefing documents are stored indefinitely until you delete your account or delete individual briefings.
  • Google OAuth tokens are refreshed automatically and deleted when you disconnect Google from Settings.
  • If you delete your account, all associated data — briefings, contact records, and tokens — is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. We use the following trusted sub-processors to operate the service:

  • Supabase — database and file storage (hosted on AWS)
  • Vercel — application hosting and edge infrastructure
  • Anthropic — AI briefing synthesis (Claude API)
  • Google — OAuth authentication and data access (Gmail, Calendar, Drive)

Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
  • OAuth tokens are stored encrypted at rest in Supabase (PostgreSQL).
  • API routes are authenticated — no briefing data is accessible without a valid session.
  • We conduct periodic reviews of data access patterns and third-party integrations.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of all data briefd holds about you.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Portability: Request your briefing history in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdrawal: Disconnect Google integration at any time from Settings → Connections.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

briefd uses a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will notify you of material changes by email or by showing a notice inside the app. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
